S.H.Figuarts Akiba Red

Sorry for being absent so long, I was sick and frankly there was no day when the lighting didn't suck. Any way back to blogging, Lets do Nobuo first!. Because everyone else already did! But then again we're close to a second season so lets ignore the add-on that I personally find to look fugly

I love this box design, its got this old-school vibe that I can't help but love. I might even get Blue and Yellow later this year as they go for decent prices on Mandarake. Lets just hope the V2.0 versions don't pop-up I don't like the hair-style of those to much.

He's a bit low on the bulk I liked from the show but he makes up for it by how good the suit-design works for the S.H.Figuarts line. The soft plastic on the shoulders feel really good when posing and the translucent part that makes up the chest piece makes it more interesting to look at it up-close. I also love how they designed the arm joints to look like its still a continuation of the suit unlike some other S.H.Figuarts I know...

And here you'll see that I suck at posing figures. But when doing so it again comes to my attention that his knees are thin as heck. Tamashii Nations didn't think this though to well, And worse is that they didn't fix it in the updated version... WHY NOT!?!

Non the less Nobuo comes with a lot of posing hands. 2 scarves for either windy situations or non windy situations and a Moe Moe Z-Cune, Which is sadly only in its gun mode. They fixed this with the updated figure. But IMO it should have been in this set...

I do still suck at posing but I can at least do a good gun pose, Okay a decent one. Point is I do love the poses it can pull of. And he holds the MMZ pretty well.

One of the reasons I bought Nobuo aside from the suit being awesome is that I can team him up with the other Super-duper-Sentai Otaku Ikari Gai.

I was actually hoping that Gai would show up for Season 2. These 2 rivals just NEED to meet for real.

Sadly we'll get Dairangers instead of Gokaigers but then again we'll get a Kibaranger figure with that, So that's a plus. Guess I'll just keep the dreams up with my figures.

They just work so well together. And I got just about enough Sentai stuff for them to appreciate :)

Or just blatantly worship them... Kay...

Aside from the missing the doll mode for the Moe Moe Z-Cune, the weirdly thin knee thing and it being so damn skinny compared to the actual suit actor I do love this figure and I can't really think of much to complain about. So that's why I took so long to finish this damn thing. Well not counting the fact that I was really busy, then sick and then waiting for season two. But I digress:

This figure is the best thing to come along for some one who's a big fan of this show and also for the collector who just wants to show that she/he has a unique Red Ranger that Saban will never touch. The other two Akiba's are just as good and so are the 3 upcoming season 2 figures. Which has Blue and Yellow just having a few small changes to their helmets and stuff. And Akiba Red being all Hug Pillow up-grady. I am going to try and pick up the pace again. And I am so looking forward for for season 2! But I am still not getting the new versions xD Bye :)

Ultra-Poseable Spider-man

I wanted to make a decent blog of him. I still got a few photo's of him in semi-decent poses... But then Superior Spider-man happened. Now Parker is permanently stuck in:

So with that said I think its time for me to address that I'm quitting with Marvel & DC forever. Sure I can still watch the shows but the recent changes in both multiverses makes me cringe. Killing Fury and replacing him with an Afro-American child he'd just happen to have somewhere? So we now have two Furies? And now this shit with Spidey? Damn they screw around allot. And DC is no different, I hate the new 52, and they dumped all the non-Super Hero characters that I loved.. Think I'll go hop to IDW and Dynamite Entertainment instead. Turtles and pulp! I can dig it!

Sorry for this boring first blog of the year. I am still figuring out what to do next. And the lighting leaves a bit to be desired lately. I'll update sooner or later. Bye!

S.H.Figuarts Gokai Silver

Guess the next one up is my Gokai Silver! This is my first Super Sentai S.H.Figuarts and will certainly not be my last.

The box survived the trip as expected from AmiAmi. And I got it for cheaps too. I only paid 25 for this thing

I still needed to get used to posing so these pics aren't that great. But I did noticed that some of the joints where a bit to tight. It was like an total opposite of my Cure Passion lol

One thing I did notice is that even though his key is so damn tiny its still somehow not to scale with his Gokai Cellular. Its not that much of an hassle but its just weird to see lol

Sadly I do not have any up-to-date 6th Ranger figures to make him Gokai Change, But I plan to get Shinken Gold soon. I do like that they added the pointy finger :)

I love his Gokai Spear Gun-mode. The design is just so epic, and the fact that its so well painted doesn't help me not wanting to get the DX version lol

Speaking of painted and non-painted. Early on I realised that he's almost in scale with my old Power Ranger Figures. As such he can hold the Power Weapons with ease!

This makes me so happy. Now he can use both of them not only in gun-modes but also as axe-modes. IMO this would have worked great for the Gokai Spear as an 4th mode. It really looks like it would do some damage.

Back to the Spear itself. My mom mentioned how fine the work on it is. And I cannot specify enough how true this is. But sadly I see one fault that the spear doesn't seem to have. I am missing a Ranger Key to do a Final Wave. There isn't even an option to put one in. Which is weird because the other Gokaigers did get slots and even tinier keys. A bit saddening

But I guess they tried to make up with it by giving the Gokai Spear in to the anchor mode. Then again this makes me less sure that there will be a Gold Mode of this figure. Still I am happy that I got it.

This figure is a must have for any Super Sentai fanboy. Its an perfect excuse to add more playability be giving him older weapons and have him gawk at your zords.

I am glad that I bought him. People complain about the not looking like spandex part, but I could not care less. So there's more to follow. Its just a matter of choosing what S.H.Figuarts to buy next.

S.H.Figuarts Cure Passion

Fresh Pretty Cure!, is the 2009 instalment of the Pretty Cure franchise. Which is the franchise Toei started on to basically make a modern day Sailor Moon (though looking back that has been almost every magical girl show after Sailor Moon lol) This series however is my favourite followed by the original Futari wa Pretty Cure.

The main 3 heroines are Cure Peach, Cure Pine, and Cure Berry who battle Labyrinth, An organization bent on conquering all Dimensions in the name of their lord Mebius ruler of the Labyrinth dimension. (No not the awesome Ultraman). The 3 villains who bring out the monsters of the week are Westar, Solar, and Eas. They do this to gather Misfortune Energy. Eas being the most dedicated of the 3 decided to spy on the Cures over the course of the series by becoming Love's ''friend'' Till in one battle after almost sacrificing her life with a risky summoning charm, she revealed her identity and broke the necklace which Peach bought for her a few episodes back and declared that she was never her friend. After some drama you really should see for yourself, She and Cure Peach have an awesome final battle which end which Mebius revealing to her colleagues Westar and Solar that her live is up. Luckily the plot fairy key called Akarun decided she was the 4th Pretty Cure and revived her in to the awesome Cure Passion!

To tell you the truth I waited so long with this blog because this thing is such a bitch to pose. By the end of the day I did not even care if these photo's where good enough lol

The problem is the material combined with Cure Passion's design. She has long hair made from a strong non-flexible plastic. And it might look good on this photo but its actually hollow. This makes the neck unstable. And combined with the long end on the back of the dress makes one side of this figure top heavy.
What's even worse is that they gave her high heels. All you need now are weak ankle joints and this thing in pretty prone to fall down... And they did give her those!! *face palm*

Any way moving on the accessories, This is pretty much all she got. Standard hands for all her poses and her weapon called the Passion Harp. Which is the thing I liked most about this set. its so beautifully moulded and painted. She also got 2 faces, Another face that doesn't look much different from the one she already got as standard, and an angry face. You know this kinda pisses me off. Setsuna is the Pretty Cure of Happiness!! Why o Why didn't they include some sort of happy face? Neutrality and anger aren't all of her emotions :P

What I am missing here is the Red phone and akarun which she uses to transform and summon her Passion Harp

Another thing that annoys me is that one of the arms is to loose. It keeps falling out of position. And the most annoying thing about this is the torso. The hair leans on the torso making it heavy. making it look like she's standing like... Well me. No matter how hard I tried I could get it right, Every time I tried to straighten her back she falls flat on her butt lol

This thing has so many glaring faults that its not worth it at all, But I am still happy non the less. I bought her because I like the character, And at least I know now that I should not buy S.H.Figuarts with high heels. Last thing I'd like to say is that you should not buy this. Its cheap at 17 with shipping tops , But its not really worth it. What you could try is to watch the show which has been finished being fansubbed by Curecom. Its totally worth your time
And Another Thing...
Since I am already talking about the cutesy girly stuff, Imma talk about ponies now :D

I have been trying to get some of these for a while now but I never actually found some in here in Holland. I ordered the gold Applejack from a Chinese seller (who probably stole it from a factory) Its from the upcoming set 4 and it has no extra copy right stamp on its hind hoof. Think its an reject from the point where they put on the eyes because when you look closely its kinda derped on the left eye :)

As for the others it turned out they where just at the blokker away from the rest of the MLP stuff. They where just 1.99 per piece and I kinda forgot the code thingy. Not that it made much of a difference since they removed that code for wave 4. Still I doubt its going to be hard to find the princesses in wave 5 lol

And I got stickers! What am I going to do with these? Dunno really. But I put this Twilightlicious one on my HDD xD

My New KO Moka Akashiya Figure

My second online buy is an Ebay item. It was fairly cheap at a price of €19.89 with no shipping costs. Which is good because I don't have money for the official version which is from €90 to €127, And I'd rather spend that on more manga instead of 1 figure that isn't posable or diecast. (nor a Sentai mech).

The box is fairly nice for a KO its only it the lighter parts on the top of the box that you can see its printed out differently then you would expect from an official Japanese company like Good Smile. Also I got the Rosario but I keep it in the box because I fear I would lose it.

And the figure itself is also great for a copy. The dress is totally different colour compared to what's presented on the box. And that's something that bothered my mom who liked the colour on the official figure. But in truth I don't mind it that much since its not really a bad substitute red and the paint job is really good for a HK knock-off.

The mirror is good though I don't see the point of it. Even If I was someone who bought this for ''ecchi'' reasons its not much use to me because It so high up in my cabinet it might as well not exist. :P

The cross is also annoying. on the official I noticed its in a totally different place and in this version it likes to go up a little so the cross doesn't lean back. This makes a gap that you can clearly see above.

The hair...... Where to begin.... Okay, lets start with that hair line you see above. I noticed allot of faults in this knock-off and yet I still bought it. But that hairline didn't stand out that much. And now it annoys me a bit. It just looks to much like what it truly is, like two parts someone glues together. It actually looks fine on the official version. It pretty much invisible on that one. Also I <3 Inner Moka's long white/silver hair...... Can I have some more white paint please!?! TO MUCH DAMN PURPLE!!! it looks like Barney's wizz!! :P. I did use some paint on the figure, which you can sadly see in the photo above. The nails where pink and I didn't think it fitted with the colour scheme of the figure. So I painted it white like on the box. Sure it looks messy and my mom or aunt could have done it. But I did it anyway. I can always fix it with acetone when my mom decides its not that great.

Another problem is that the figure is also out of place due to the cross. So Moka's foot is actually over the mirror platform. Its really annoying because now I can't really place it right.

I now have it kinda crooked next to my manga collection. But of course its not really set right because I had just put it back after taking photo's. The manga really rest well against the cross. And despite all its cheap faults its what I bought it for the manga and I like it for that! (Btw at first I liked the anime, but every time I re-watch it and a new tonkabon is released I keep liking it less and less. The manga always trumps the anime.).
I now got enough money to buy stuff. I was planning on a Gokaiger haul but right now I only got enough for the Jetman set which is already on its way here. I'll blog about it when I have it :)

Editor's Note: I can't believe how fast the new volumes come out and chapters are scanlated. I really like where the story line is going and I'm looking forward to the next volume coming out in October even though I already read the chapters :)

A gothic lolita doll of Rei Anayami form Neon Genesis Evangelion from Kotobukiya granted it was 10 dollars more then the certificate but it was worth it.
