Guide To Buying Stuff On-line: Bhiner

How I came to this site:
I was looking for unique stuff to blog about. The first thing I thought about was Armour Hero which had allot of toys that where cheap to grab up. But sadly all the Chinese sites where inaccessible to us foreigners. And then a few months passed with me looking for new on-line shops to my list. When suddenly this site popped up! It had its issues (still has most of them but they are still improving it) And works as a middle-man for not only 1 big site called Taobao (Chinese Ebay) but also is open to URL's of other Chinese sites. And on the second damn page I found what I was looking for! thanks Bhiner!

Starting With The Warnings Already:
I asked a few questions (some dumb in hindsight) which the staff of the site replied to in messy English (which is understandable since y'know China) and from what I got I initially thought it would be easy to order stuff. Nope, No such luck! This is actually an advanced on-line site much like Mandarake but for the Chinese. Sure the stuff seemed cheap at first but certain factors are in the way before you can actually get the the total price. And by the end if you did it wrong like me you'll be on the expensive side for sure. But lets leave that for later shall we? :)

How To Search Stuff:
Your Friend
One of the many things that will keep people from buying stuff via the middle man service of Bhiner is the fact that since TaoBao is in Chinese. The search option also need to apply Chinese calligraphy. This is something that is pretty much impossible to change unless the search options on Taobao can be changed. Which  can't. However some English searches work some time, but the finds are limited. A good search tag is Bandai but its really long with lots of choices. So its better to go for Chinese instead. But for us Tokusatsu and even Anime fans it might be easier to actually find stuff. For instance the way I did is finding the Wikipedia of a series, like say Gokaiger, and head for the left of the page to change the language. Most of the times the Chinese language is the lowest on the list (中文) Then you copy the Chinese title of the series (Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: 海賊戰隊豪快者 ) and paste it in the search option of the site. You'll probably won't even find half a page on this search. That is because like all the rest of us the Chinese like to shorten the title of the search item because its easier to make tags. And because we foreigners have problems understanding Chinese its hard to fix it. Luckily I solved this by taking the last symbol of the title, delete it, and press enter. Keep doing this till you find that there are several pages. And on the right of the site you'll find a tab that you can easily understand. If you choose Price: High To Low you find ALLOT of expensive things But we don't want that. Heck if you want that stop reading this and go to Ebay instead. :P.  So instead be wise and use the Price: Low To High tab instead. Which brings us to our next section.

The Importance Of Knock-Offs!
As you know China is brimming with knock-offs. With Toys most of them are piles of plastic shit but there are some real pieces of gold shit amongst them! Sure they might not hold up to the official versions but they are cheaper most of the time and its a chance to get something that you could not pay for before. There's lots of Super Sentai knock-offs out there. Like my KO Great Icarus. And several other KO stuff I still need to pay for as we speak. And like on Ebay there are also some dumb-asses with beautifully rare toys who sell them for basically nothing. But there's also a down side to the knock-offs. Because they might blur your view if you try to get official stuff and are searching for cheaper prices. (they did with me). You should always do some extra Google/Yahoo image research with the Chinese title just to know what the official packaging stuff is. If it is something Chinese and is not Show-accurate don't go buying it. Go for a little bit more expensive and Show- accurate. More info on this on the official site: http://bit.ly/vXFdxh.
Next Time On Kai Jia Yong Shi: Wataru joins Xin Nan for a totally heterosexual bath! Wait what? Wrong show?

Putting It In The Cart:
I know the title is redundant. Because I know most of you already made accounts on other shop sites and know how to buy stuff there. But here's also where ALLOT of things can go wrong. For instance, the stock numbers for the Item is always wrong even if it says 1. I used to think its because of all those small companies that are thriving in the North of China with HUGE inventories. But HELL NO. This problem is traced back to Taobao which is never trust worthy with stocks. The only accurate numbers are 1 and 0! And sometimes there are batches which seem cheap but are actually multiple choice sales that has several items each with their own price. Look out for these because there where some gruesome prices hiding for me. So lets move on. You added the item to your cart and confirmed it. The staff members will now ask the Chinese seller if it is in stock. 3 things can happen 1, Bhiner Remarks: [Cannot Contact Seller] Just press on till one day Bhiner does contact it 2 Bhiner Remarks: [Item is out of stock]. To bad for you. Try to use the calligraphy title to find another seller of the same item. 3 The Item is in stock and you can buy. But a fair warning. When I first tried to buy the Mars Hero Belt it turned out that it was out of stock and the money I paid for it was refunded. You still loose some money. Which brings me to the next section.

The Importance Of Combining Items.
This should always be a part of Bhiner. I'll personally find you and slap you on the head if you buy just 1 thing at once!! First off is the fact that if you combine several items of the same seller the inland shipping will be the same. Which does help, ALLOT!. Secondly if you select and pay for a batch of Items the Bhiner added costs (they have to earn somehow) will be lower. Also it felt so much better getting a large haul instead of just 1 thing. Also this will effect the eventual price of the shipping costs which makes them eventually land on your doorstep. Which brings me to the next section again.

Costs, Costs, Costs! Damn its so much! If only I Thought This Through!:
So as I said the extra costs is not that much but if you not combine shipping it will end up eating your wallet and give it back to you from the other end. And thus I'll explain. The inland shipping costs is currently $3.28 or rather 2.38 for me. To keep it this low check the section above again. With the adding of the funds to the Bhiner funds also comes a Paypal tax depending on how much you are planing to throw on there. Of you want to avoid this you can also send the money to Bhiner's e-mail, though I still don't know how this works and rather prefer doing it the funding way. Also Bhiner needs to keep existing so they ask a part of the money too. Which is somewhere around $8 or €4 for me. The eventual and final shipping costs is pretty much the main problem here. This is where most of the money goes to in the end. Since every company asks for a price around ¥200 for the first 500 grams (which is around $30-20 If I remember correctly) and adds ¥40-¥68 for each additional 500 grams added to the weight. ($6+ or 4+) Again depending on the company. Which is why its important to add stuff. Because if one item is over 500 grams you'll pay the same for that item's shipping as you would for lets say and DX Sentai mecha shipping costs. And that is ALLOT IMO. Don't fall for it!

Insuring it Gets To Your Home Safely:
Lots of tape but still not good
This is important because the 2 of the 3 items I ordered where fucked up beyond belief! It was like on its way through India the box was used to play elephant soccer with! Sure it could be the in-land's shipping fault but I am pretty sure the fault lies with Airmail China which I choose because it was the cheapest (it recently raised its prices! Those jackasses!!). To be fair if you got enough money and want the stuff to arrive safely and in time go with a shipping company you know and trust. EMS is still the best but its so damn expensive.

Bugs And Things That Will Probably Will Be Fixed Sooner Or Later:
There is nothing here to be really annoyed about but some things might be better said here. First off the translation isn't a full 100%. The staff of the site is working hard on better translations but you are on your own with descriptions on the Items. They can't translate that for some reason. There is a button for that though. And because the translation fails some times, to get a better idea what it is saying you can do this easily. Copy the calligraphy automatically which forms the description,  and paste it on Google Translate or Yahoo Babelfish. The translation is rough too but it kinda gives you a better idea of what is being said. Next is a bug that I've seen twice now. The title doesn't translate either. And if you find batches that are being sold one-by-one you'll stumble across the problem of WTF do I need to choose to get something. Well what you need to do is choose the option *View on Taobao* right under the seller info. Copy and paste the address in the search option again and it should now translate it. Giving you a rough guess as to what it is you plan to buy. The one of the two real bugs I seem to have found is the 0 page bug which is when you forward to a page and end up with Bhiner saying that there are no items even though you know there's more. This is easily fixed by going back and clicking forward till the bug gives up and shows the items on the next page. Another such bug is the 0 Item page bug which look like the picture I put up earlier. This is easily fixed by not clicking directly on the item but opening the item page in another tab and keep doing so till the item does show up.

And To Finish Up:
I liked blogging about this. I believe this was necessary to get Toku Otaku to get started on the site. I don't think its necessary to blog about any other buy site but guess I'll try to make a series of it. Happy hauling! :)

Mod Stuff... And Other Stuff...

Just to get this off my chest:
As a moderator I know when one person comes by to complain about another user to look at the activities of both users. And the one who started is not going to be the only user in trouble but he/she's going to get the most punishment out of these situations. ESPECIALLY if the douche who started it all comes complaining first. I say that because this same douche who has been plaguing the site I mod at yesterday was the one who came to me first complaining about not being treated right in the battle forums. Both guys where essentially wrong. But in this (and most cases after that, aside from the ones he continued with the same users as before in other threads) he was the one who started this shit. And yesterday he has gone daikaiju on the site because he thinks he was the one who was wronged being banned after 3+ warnings. But in fact this is probably just him showing his real colours, no longer trying to hide behind the lies that the users he was annoying where the ones who started. He was basically trying to get everyone banned who disagreed with him on the battle forums. Probably seeing it as a form of winning the debate by being aggressive and sneaky instead of actually trying to be right. To bad for him he forgot that mods always should look at the whole situation and not just 3 posts only showing the reactions of the harassed users >_>

Edit: Also I forgot the fact that he was banned from Comicvine for the same reason and that he started out switching accounts on the site because he claimed that his first account could break the 5 post limit. It was almost like the site itself did want him there lol

There that felt better. Any way Doremii allows me to use some of their fansubbed footage on my upcoming blog. I am very happy with this even though I only get to use it on this blog and not on @Reviewtopia since they only do embeds (screw it, I am NOT uploading ANYTHING on Youtube) And thus I am stuck with raws.

And more good and bad news: I'll get my KO Galaxy Mega or rather Astro Megazord Friday and my other Toku stuff the day after. And if we get our Christmas money next Monday I'll be able to get the other Toku stuff here with in 3 weeks. And if we are careful with that we'll be able to go to the Midwinter fest in Archeon! :D The sad thing is that I just noticed the KO Astro Megazord won't be able to Gattai with the Delta Megazord even if I got hold of one by some miracle.

And that's about it. I feel a bit better now ^_^

Super Sentai 199 Hero Great Battle Ending Theme RAW

I stayed up yesterday to watch this movie and its was worth it! It owns Lets Go All Riders in so many levels!! I loved  how they made it possible to call on all the Sentai without Basco and I love the new look of Black Star Fuhrer. It has so little faults. But the main one is the title 199? there's still allot of heroes missing and even with those counted there's still not 199! The main problem I have is the fact that Ninjaman and Gumajin are missing from the *extra* heroes line-up. (more are missing but I care the most about those two) You could argue that at least one of the two could be counted as an extra mecha but that still leaves Ninjaman who in all respect would have fitted in more with the extra heroes then Zubaan! Any way I love the fights even though they do the same old *splitting up to beat the enemy* trick they always used for these anniversary movies and team-ups. And the last battle is just EPIC especially because of the music that was used!

Any way have some Super Sentai Roll Call:
The raw was provided by Gustavaum from TokuRawRevolution even though I downloaded it from somewhere else. And the DVD will be released on the 21st quickly followed by the fansubs provided by Overtime and Grown Ups In Spandex. (and next year maybe TV-Nihon too) Seriously go watch this movie!!

Thank you for reading and listening. Enjoy the movie! :)

35th Super Sentai Anniversary Mecha Part 2: DX Gokai Pat Striker

So this is my first and last toy of the DX Gokai Machine line. The others are either to expensive to or not really worth the trouble.
Fan video edited by Theippachai
Pat Striker

The reason why this is my first and last Gokai Machine is simple. I just <3 Dekaranger! Not only that but I always loved the Deka Machines especially Pat Striker with it streamlined form. The moment I saw the first pictures in the rumour thread of HJU I knew I wanted to buy it. It has that beautiful red in the front with the somewhat cheesy but still awesome rainbow patterned sticker on the front like Machine Doberman and Machine Bull from the original show. I also like how this thing fits together. Aside from a few white lines like on the logo's on back and front you can't really say its not a one piece car. I've decided not to take photo's of it (lazy) but the lights and sounds on this thing is epic! I like how much it looks like the lights on the actual Dekaranger mecha. And my only strife with it is that they didn't do much with the lights. They could have let the lights go on and off switching from left to right like on a actual siren does. It would look nicer then just the regular on and off.
Any way lets take this police car apart and move on! ^_^
Deka Gokaioh

I find the fact that you have to take it apart and open everything up a bit of a downer. If you put the middle piece in its button will be pressed down and it will make the sounds before you plan to lol. But when spinning that wheel on the back its worth it with the awesome gattai sound and the cool finishing sound which actually does sound like multiple bullets instead of just one sound that's really scrambled. I love it!

Deka Gokaioh (Gun Mode I guess?)

Well this mode.... I do compliment it for the fact that the guns actually do look like the D-magnum from the side. what I do dislike though is that the left arm has that stupid canon in the way again and the other arm isn't holding it that great either.... Still at least they tried! I hope the SRC version fixes this problem. :)

And that's my Pat Striker its something I loved buying it, and it did not involve my wallet being punched in the money bags till it bled out those precious dollars.... Unlike what I still have to pay the shipping costs for.... O well that's for another time. See you in the next blog xD

The Doctor Who dream

Man that was f'd up! I had 3 dreams today 2 of which are not worth sharing.

The dream started with 2 guys in an empty house. One of them points out fire marks on the walls and that's when we turn to a flashback. The narration said that they shouldn't have had that birthday party on the boat (yeah now its a boat not a house lol) We see the 2 men who are still kids here toying with fire and a man putting it out. Even though there was a fire no one was really scared and the party went on. The man who stopped the fire then walked out on deck where we see a man watching the water. It turned out to be the Doctor.... More specifically the 11th Doctor aged so much he looked like the first! He even had the same damn clothes on. The man walks up to him and says long time no see, The Doctor answers with you should not have held this party on a boat. Especially not today! The man tells him not to worry and asks him why he came here? The Doctor tells him he has a gift for the boys holding the watch of the 10nth Doctor. The man tells him that that's a horrible gift for 12 year olds. The Doctor tells him its not for them at this age but when they are old enough. The real gifts are already amongst the other gifts. The man takes the watch and put it away. The Doctor heads for what I presume is the TARDIS but as soon as he turns around the man laughs maniacally and throws him of the ship in the cold waters where the Doctor clams to some old shipwrecks. The ships floats away as we see the doctor barely surviving the cold water and seeing the Midgard (or insert giant water here) snake slowly heading for the boat.  Back on the ship we can hear the sound of the TARDIS with the breaks on.

Then my mom woke me up and I was almost to late xD. Can't really say much else about this dream.... Sounds like something Nash would pick out to review.

35th Super Sentai Anniversary Mecha Part 1: DX Gokaioh

I wish I could have done this on ''Talk Like A Pirate'' day, since it seemed appropriate... But a certain someone didn't want to pick it up :( So I finally got what I want... after 4 weeks of extra waiting... Any way here's my Gokaioh:

The box is pretty awesome and even though it keeps repeating the same patterns. I really hoped it be just as big as the Power Ranger Boxes I had back in the day but they are clearly dwarfed by this thing. I am honestly glad to have this because It will be about half the worth for this mecha lol

Gokai Galleon

Okay lets start with the main machine of this show and the reason I bought this thing, The Gokai Galleon. Which is also the one Gokai Vehicle that makes sense for a pirate themed show. Its pretty cool. It is blocky but that's only really an eyesore if you look at it from above. Initially I was worried about the thrusters/legs in the back of the ship. From the wrong angle (again above...) they really stick out. Also a bit weird is the fact that the mouth of Gokaioh can be seen from above the Galleon. I can't help but think they at least could have hidden that. But to my surprise the sides of this galleon hide those two problem pretty neatly. I also like how the ship hides the arm connectors by making them look like cannons. Though the biggest feature I like about this ship are those bad-ass swords you can put on the front! When I first got them out of the box I thought they where diecast xD

Also

Might I add how annoying it is coming across some of the newer Gokaioh reviews and seeing how they say the main quarters of the team is in that little space behind the little masts. Which of course was disproved in the Abaranger homage episode of Gokaiger. It clearly shows its some where around the biggest mast (which can be removed for some reason btw) when the kaijin escaped the crew. Focus people!

Gokai Jet

I am really disappointed at this thing, its so blocky some reviewers didn't even know it was a plane on first sight. True it has some cool decals and logo's and it does provide a place to hide the hat for the later formation. But I hate that it fails to hide that damn hand. Something that also raises an eyebrow is a tiny bump on the back of this so called plane. WTF is it supposed to be? If its supposed to be a rocket booster it fails at that as well. Any way this is the least favourite of my vehicles.

Gokai Racer

Gokai Racer... Gee a race car... How space pirate like.... NOT! Sure it looks cool but I really hate the fact that they choose the vehicles to be ''A Pirate ship and vehicles that boys like'' It feels so half-assed!! Any way for what its supposed to represent it doesn't really look that bad. It has wheels and a cockpit. Big deal. I do like the brown/bronze plastic parts on it though. It makes it feel less like some block.

Gokai Marine

Yes It looks like a block and it does look like some sort of marine mammal. But this is still my favourite of the 5 since its simple yet has all those nice decals painted in, like on the sides. The pink of this thing looks looks especially good compared to the old Megazords I own. (Shogun megazord should not count IMO) I especially like the gold anchor on the front. It look so nice.

Gokai Trailer

My second least of the 5. And that's because its actually a 2 part vehicle and not just some block. Then again the two part thing is the reason this thing is my second least favourite. That's because every damn time I need to make it in to a leg I need to rip the car off and slap it on differently. This doesn't really make it fun to have.... I could have gotten a Dekaranger robo....

Gokaioh

So here it is Gokaioh. I disliked the fact that its a block former from the start. On its own its not really worth that much to me. I like how the several colours of the mecha all get almost equally shown. The bronze/brown colours really looks good in this combined form. The only one that breaks this sadly is the Gokai Jet which has almost none of that colour. Speaking of Gokai Jet, For something the best swordsman of the crew pilots its can't really hold the damn sword all that well. The face of Gokaioh has to be one of the best I've seen in a while. Its so neatly detailed and it work so well with the hat it gets. A disappointment that I knew before I bought this toy is the canon. Which is tiny and just so stump-like that I can't really count it as a canon. The least they could have don is hollow it out a bit. but they didn't even bother with that. Still its a nice feature for any one who has plans on collecting the other Gokaiger mecha and I admit that it does kinda make me less pissed of about the blockiness of this entire line. The one this that annoys me the most about this formation is this *DYNAMIC POSE!!* man it takes up allot of space doing that. It looks like its shitting a brick next to all my other Sentai mecha / Megazords. And I'd rather have seen another Gaoranger type of mecha for this anniversary with it being all posable and streamlined and stuff. If this continues to next year I am quitting on buying a DX Super Sentai mecha! Only once any anniversary will I take the trouble of buying one. Instead I might focus on buying old Sentai mecha and the Super Robot Chogokin versions.

Soon I'll buy some more stuff I want to blog about in the future. But as of now I am still waiting for the people who handle that site to call back on my to that so I can pay for everything. But that does not worry me. I still have some things to blog about first. But I'll be slow on that too. :)
